The alarm came to SOS at a quarter to five. The house on Algatan where the fire is has two floors and there are apartments above the street kitchen.
– There have been no reports of personal injuries, but the fire is strong and has broken through the roof or in any case the ventilation, says Gustaf Sandell, officer on duty at the South Rescue Service.
– There are also other properties next to each other and right now we are working to prevent the fire from spreading laterally.
Unclear cause of fire
The apartment above the street kitchen is destroyed, but the emergency services do not believe that a total evacuation will be required.
– At least that’s the plan right now. We have secured the stairwells so we don’t think it will be needed, says Gustaf Sandell.
Forces from Trelleborg, Vellinge, Klagstorp and Hyllie are on site. The fire most likely started in the street kitchen, but the cause of the fire is still unclear.
