There is a fire in an apartment building in central Örebro. Several people had to evacuate early on Saturday morning.
– There will probably be some who cannot return, says Anders Svedlund, officer on duty at the rescue service.
The emergency services received several alarms shortly after four on Saturday morning that there was a noise coming from the stairwell.
The first forces on the scene could see heavy smoke coming from two stairwells in the apartment building.
– After a while, our first forces can establish that the fire is located in the basement, says Anders Svedlund, officer on duty at the rescue service.
There has been a large spread of smoke to apartments in the house. Several people had to be evacuated, but some have been able to return to their apartments.
Just before seven in the morning, the emergency services state that the fire should be under control.
– One or a few apartments have received quite a lot of smoke, so there will probably be some who cannot return.
There are no reports of anyone being seriously injured.
The emergency services expect to remain on site until nine o’clock.
