Fire destroys garage classic car and motorcycle

A Bothwell-area homeowner lost a classic car and motorcycle after burning some brush went wrong.

Firefighters from Station No. 9 Bothwell and a tanker from Station No. 8 Thamesville were called to the Zone Road 5 residence just after 4 pm Friday.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services reports the homeowner was burning brush when the fire spread nearby to trees and a garage.

The homeowner attempted to extinguish the fire, however, the garage along with a classic car and motorcycle were destroyed in the blaze, CKFES said.

There were no injuries reported and the loss is estimated at $100,000.

CKFES reminds residents to never leave fires unattended, noting firefighters responded to three separate brush fire incidents between 4 pm and 6 pm Friday.
