“Pumper 3 was first on scene and found a two-storey house with flames coming from the first floor windows and doors,” a release said Monday.

“The home was abandoned confirmed by the property owner. Firefighters worked to knock down flames but were unable to catch the fire before it made its way into the attic of the home.”

Crews worked through the night on a “difficult, deep-seated fire,” the release said.

The property owner brought in an excavator Saturday morning to demolish the building.
