Fire causes 800000 damage to home near Frogmore

Two people suffered minor injuries in a $800,000 house fire near Frogmore on Thursday.

Fire crews from five stations responded to the fire at about 5:30 pm on North Road, west of Frogmore.

The fire had already spread throughout the home when firefighters arrived on the scene, Katie Ballantyne, community safety officer with the Norfolk Fire Department, said in a media release. The home suffered extensive damage.

Two occupants of the home escaped with minor injuries. They were transported to hospital and later released. A firefighter also suffered minor injuries and was assessed at the scene by Norfolk paramedics.

Two cats and two dogs are missing from the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The property was insured, Ballantyne said.
