The police station in Kalix has been evacuated due to heavy smoke.
Upon closer inspection, a burning car was found in the building’s garage.
– When the emergency services arrived on the scene, they saw clear smoke coming from a basement, says the management operator at the rescue center.
First an automatic alarm went off and then SOS Alarm received a call about a suspicious fire at the police station in Kalix.
– There was an alarm at 08.20 and then it would have been that there was a smell of smoke, says police spokesperson Marie Andersson.
When the emergency services arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from a basement. The police station was evacuated and there are currently no reports of injuries.
At 9:20 a.m., they managed to locate the development of smoke to a burning car in the building’s garage.
The fire is out and the rescue service is in full swing with ventilating the police station.
