At least six people have died in a fire at a nightclub in the city of Murcia near Alicante on Spain’s southeast coast, several media reports. At least four people have smoke damage.
The alarm about a fire at the Teatre nightclub came in at six o’clock on Sunday morning, the Murcia region’s rescue service writes on social media.
The rescue service adds that the death toll is expected to rise.
The club is one of Murcia’s most popular and is located in the city center, according to the Europa Press news agency.
The fire is said to be under control.
