Firas Mamo is still asleep on Monday morning when his phone rings. It’s his father. Firas lives in Houten, but a large part of his family and friends live in Syria. When he sees his father calling, he is shocked. His mother is often ill, could something be wrong with her? Firas’s father is in a panic. “I even thought he was talking to someone else,” says Firas. A strong earthquake has hit the area where his parents live. “We’re outside,” says his father.
