Fiol and Ensenyat gales on the Formentera All Round Trail

Formentera already has a new king and queen of the Formentera All Round Trail. Miquel Ensenyat and María Fiol flew in the 74KM that goes around the Island with a victory without a doubt and with force, in a day marked by the wind that has affected the Island all weekend. One of the protagonists of the event, which is sponsored by the Agència d’Estratègia Turística de les Illes Balearic Islands, Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the Consell de Formentera, It was the Sport HG runner, Monica Vives, who signed a recital in the 44KM of the Half by finishing in second absolute position, first female, behind a great Jaume Quetglas which prevailed for just under 3 minutes. In the Tros de Fart, Joan Mesquida and Irati Matas were the fastest of the 21KM.

In the Vuelta a la Pitiüsa Menor, Miquel Ensenyat was the most regular and crossed the finish line after 6:20:41 of racing, without seeing his victory in danger at any time. Francisco Javier Serra was second with a time of 6:42:08, while the top3 was closed by Boris Baer with 6:53:57.

In women, María Fiol climbed back to the top of the podium by winning with a time of 7:58:57 and with a comfortable lead over the second, a great Eva Orives who crossed the finish line with 8:26:07 defending the lead against Ana Benito (8:29:31).

In the Half, a spectacular race by Monica Vives, Spanish trail champion in 2018, who was just under 3 minutes away from proclaiming herself the absolute winner of the 40KM. He did not succeed in part due to the great performance of Jaume Quetglas, winner of the event with 3:21:29, for the 3:23:56 of the Catalan. The men’s podium was completed by Santiago Sánchez (3:26:51) and Alejandro Malberti (3:27:59). In women, the role of Vives allowed her to easily prevail over Sara Garre and Silvia Canals who finished with 4:05:41 and 4:10:04 respectively.

The last race to be held was the FART Tros with its 21KM in which Joan Mesquida resolved the most even competition, since he entered the finish line 1:33:05 by Joan Alexandre’s 1:34:35 and Jonatan Blanco’s 1:34:47.

In women, spectacular victory of the local Irati Matas, winner with 1:38:03, ahead of Marta Mesalles and Mariona Danés, second and third in the drawer with 1:51:41 and 1:53:43, respectively.

The trophy ceremony served as the closure of the most popular Formentera All Round Trail of the eleven editions held to date. The president of the Consell de Formentera, Ana Juan, and the Consellera de Deportes, Paula Ferrer, were in charge of awarding the prizes.
