Finns throw away their clothes for Tunick

After starting in a park in the center of Kuopio, the photo session continued on the rocky shores of the lake that surrounds the city, where the participants both posed naked on the rocks and standing in a diving tower.

— Today, the land of 1,000 lakes has been renamed the land of 1,000 nudes, Tunick told AFP, explaining that he wanted to “connect the body to Kuopio and the lakes of northern Finland.”

The 56-year-old photographer is known for his large-scale art installations, often featuring undressed crowds in various locations around the world. He expressed his gratitude to the participants who once again enabled his “artistic ambitions” by undressing in the Nordic night.

Last November, 2,500 people heeded the artist’s call to strip down on Sydney’s Bondi Beach to raise awareness of skin cancer.

Tunick also made headlines in 2016 when more than a hundred women posed naked with mirrors in Cleveland to make Donald Trump appear unfit for the White House.
