Finnish supporters’ heartwarming support for Sweden after the attack in Brussels – now being celebrated: “Beloved neighbours”

Two Swedes died in Brussels before Belgium-Sweden.
On Tuesday evening, Finnish supporters showed their support for Sweden – something that is now celebrated.
“The best neighbors in the world,” writes one person on social media.

It was on Monday evening that two Swedish citizens were shot dead in central Brussels, just over an hour before kick-off between Belgium and Sweden in the European Championship qualifiers. At least one of the victims is said to have been wearing a Swedish national team shirt, Belgian media reports.

Lindelöf and Andersson

The match was nevertheless kicked off and the entire first half was played. But at halftime, the Swedish and Belgian national team players and coaching staffs were informed of the deed. The Swedish players did not want to play on, and the team captain Victor Nilsson Lindelöf and the national team captain Jan Andersson agreed with Belgium to blow the match.

There was thus no second half, but the arena was put into lockdown and the supporters in the stands remained for several hours. The Belgian supporters then took the opportunity to show their support for the visiting Swedes. The home fans started to shine with the lights on their phones, and sang Sweden anthems.

Finland’s support

Now our neighbors in the east have also expressed their support for Sweden.

Finland’s national team played on Tuesday evening against Kazakhstan in the European Championship qualifier. Then there was a banner in front of the Finnish stand, with the words “We stand up for Sweden”.

“The best neighbors in the world,” says one in the comment section, who is backed up by another:
