Jenny Rautionaho took Finland’s first place on the podium in ten years at the Ski Jumping World Cup.
Finland Jenny Rautionaho has reached the podium at the Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup in Sapporo. The 27-year-old Finn was second in the race in very challenging weather.
He was fourth after the opening round. In the opening round, he completed a 115-meter jump. In the second round, Rautionaho rocked even more handsomely by jumping 120 meters.
The competition was won by Austria Eva Pinkelnig. The third was from Norway Eirin Maria Kvandal.
This is the first podium place for a Finnish ski jumper in the World Cup in almost ten years. Julia Kykkänen was third twice in spring 2014.
The second round was jumped in a wild snowstorm. Sometimes it was almost impossible to distinguish the flying athletes in the middle of the snowfall.
Rautionaho had previously reached fifth place twice at his best. This he did this season in Engelberg and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
After the opening round, Julia Kykkänen was in 11th place with a jump of 108 meters. However, the second jump was completely messed up due to the snowfall and she fell to a difficult 79 meters.
