Finnish police have found tow tracks on the seabed for tens of kilometers following the ship Eagle S, which is currently being investigated for involvement in the cable break in the Estlink 2 electricity cable on Christmas Day.
This is what the police write in a press release.
The police have previously said that they suspect that it was the ship’s anchor that caused the damage.
The ship is currently in Finnish waters and the police are currently working, among other things, on interrogating the crew. But investigations are also carried out in the waters of the Gulf of Finland.
The police write in a press release that bad weather has meant difficulties in the investigation, but that they have now succeeded in mapping a tow track on the seabed.
– The track is several tens of kilometers long. So far, it has not been possible to determine where the anchor possibly came loose, says the investigation’s general leader Sami Paila from the Central Criminal Police, in the statement.
