The World Skiing World Cup continues in Cogna, Italy, January 31 – February 2. On Friday, we will compete in traditional Parisprint, Saturday in the traditional sprint and Sunday in free 10 kilometers off.
On Thursday evening, the Finnish Ski Association released the Finnish teams for the weekend’s opening trip to Parisprint.
In both women and men, Finland has two teams.
The women’s number one team form Kerttu Niskanen and Jasmmi Joensuuthe second team Krista Pärmäkoski and Jasmin.
In the men’s number one team Iivo Niskanen and Lauri Vuorinenin the second team Ristomatti Hakola and Joni Mäki.
Lauri Vuorinen offers a “confident” World Championship medal?
The Parisprint is an extremely fascinating journey for Finns, as it is also skied in the traditional Trondheim World Championships.
Iivo Niskanen has a Parisprint Olympic Gold 2014 (Sami Jauhojärvi with), Olympic silver 2022 (with Joni Mäki) and World Cup bronze 2017 (with Lake Jauhojärvi).
Lauri Vuorinen opens a stunning seam to the first medal of her career if she can ski with Niskanen in the World Championships.
Vuorinen tinted in Ruka Sprint early and was third. Since then, the top ten in the Sprint have come to the top. Tour de Skilla Vuorinen was in trouble and is now looking for a new downturn.
Joni Mäki’s season, on the other hand, started really dramatically, but last weekend in Engadin he was eighth in the free sprint.
In principle, Vuorinen and Mäki are fighting for a pair sprint with Niskanen in the World Cup.
The Finnish men have taken the Parisprint World Championship medal three times, last 2021 World Championship silver with Joni Mäki and Ristomatti Hakola. From the Olympics, the medal has become twice, 2014 and 2022.
In women, return to the World Championship medals?
On the women’s side, the couple’s sprint has been a nice journey for Finland, especially in the early years, when the sport has been on the program since 2005.
At the Olympics, Finnish women have celebrated the medal twice: 2014 Aino-Kaisa Saarinen and Kerttu Niskanen took silver and 2006 Saarinen and Virpi Kuitunen bronze.
In the World Championships, Finnish women took the five World Championships in the Parisprint (2005-2013). The latest World Championship medal 2013 was a bronze two Riikka Sarasoja-Lilja and Krista Pärmäkoski (then Lähteenmäki).
Now Finnish women are the absolute medal favorites of the sport, as Jasmmi Joensuu has been in a staggering sprint and has also improved his spending on normal travel. Kerttu Niskanen’s traditional skiing skills are known.
has no broadcast rights to the Games, but they are closely monitored in the EPN application, sports radio and sports screen.
