Finnish frisbee golf history in Copenhagen both womens and

The Finnish men celebrated a triple victory in the DGPT professional tour competition in Copenhagen, Denmark. Eveliina Salonen took first place in the women’s competition.

25 years old Jesse Nieminen won the Copenhagen Open competition of the Frisbee golf professional tour organized in Copenhagen. Nieminen started from the lead in the final round and rolled irresistibly to victory in the first European Disc Golf Pro Tour event.

Nieminen kept his game together and knocked down no less than six birdies in a row in the middle stages of the round, which gave Nieminen a small lead over the chasers. Finnish challengers Niklas Anttila and Eetu Tuominen didn’t manage to reach Niemi, who secured the victory on the last fairway with a difference of two shots.

– The last four fairways I tried to keep myself calm, Nieminen told Disc Golf Network in an interview.

The Finn revealed that he was not sure of his victory during the round, as he has lost from similar setups many times before.

– To be honest, I mentally prepared myself for the fact that I was going to do something stupid, Nieminen shook.

Eveliina Salonen took a convincing victory in the women’s competition with a huge final move.

The start of Salonen’s round was catastrophic, as he made a triple bogey on the opening fairway. After the fairway, he was no less than eight shots behind Estonia Kaidi Allsaluawho entered the final round in the lead.

However, Allsalu failed to take advantage of Salonen’s mistakes. The Finnish ace, who lives in Pirkkala, finally got level on the last fairway. The victory was decided with wild putting performances on two fairways, which also surprised Salonen.

– The first round was really difficult. Yesterday was easy and fun. Today there were difficulties again, before that end, Eveliina Salonen summarized on Sunday Frisbeegolfmedia.

On the sixth fairway of the final day, Salonen was still nine shots behind the Estonian.

– I thought that I can still play a pretty tough result if I feel like winning. I missed many opportunities at the back, but still the gap only narrowed, Salonen was amazed.

Salonen finally won on the second replay. The victory was decided by a strong putt, which Salonen did not expect. Passing had felt difficult all day.

– I don’t know where those putts on the end lanes came from. The guy from Meikälä doesn’t usually hit those longer putts, but it’s good that he sank, Salonen laughed.
