Denver hockey is getting strong right now. At the NHL and university level, the city is among the best in the country and at the same time the number of enthusiasts is growing rapidly. Hockey isn’t the number one sport in town, but in terms of the match event, Denver is the toughest elite in the NHL.
All Stanley Cup finals will be broadcast live on ‘s channels. The second final on Sunday morning at 03.05 on TV2 and Areena. See the schedule of the finals here.
DENVER. Teams from the same city have not won the hockey championship in the NHL as well as the university series in 50 years in the same year.
Now, however, there is an opportunity for that in Denver. The university team did its job earlier. The Colorado Avalanche is currently playing in the NHL finals and won the previous two championships in Tampa Bay Lightning in the first final.
Colorado Avalanchen GM and companion legend Joe Sakic there was no belief in his ears after hearing that Denver could win the double championship.
When Boston did the trick in 1972, Sakic was three years old.
– That would be an amazing achievement. Denver has the most college championships, but winning is always hard. The fact that we have such tough teams at both the university and the NHL tells us how strong the hockey culture in Colorado is right now, Sakic said the Denver reporter. Mark Kiszlalle after hearing the matter.
The number of enthusiasts in Colorado has almost doubled since Sakic, Ville Nieminen and other Colorado stars won the club’s most recent championship to date in 2001. Denver is emerging as one of the major U.S. hockey cities alongside Minnesota and Detroit.
Naturally, the growth at the grassroots level has also increased interest in Avalanche’s NHL product as well as the current championship run. Many fans assure the city will be confused if the championship trophy returns to Denver.
– Hockey means a lot to Denver people. The university team is cared for and many have grown up watching hockey. My friends and brothers have also been playing hockey since they were little ones. It’s common here and it makes many big Avalanche fans too, a Colorado fan who entered the game with spectacular signs told Sport.
Mass karaoke tore the spine
However, the Avalanche is not Denver’s largest sports club. The city has a team for every four major ball series in North America. The teams in American football (Broncos), basketball (Nuggets) and baseball (Colorado Rockies) are all bigger than hockey.
In the street scene, for example, the finale is hardly noticed if Larimer Square is excluded, where players ’jerseys are spectacularly featured.
– There is a lot to offer in this city, and a normal person may not know so much about hockey. There’s American football, baseball, basketball and that’s where hockey might be a little overwhelmed by the supply. But when 20,000 people come to the Avalanche game, there will be the NHL’s toughest party, says Ville Nieminen, who will be in the final series on the spot.
The party was really true in the opening finals at a tremendous level. The most staging performance of the evening from the audience was a mass karaoke for the song “All the small things” by a band called Blink182. The home crowd has performed the match in third installments this spring and Wednesday’s performance was an absolutely staggering, tear-jerking entertainment splash.
Avalanche is making every effort to beat more steam into the heater of the growing disc heat. It has its feet Nathan MacKinnonin, Cale Makarin, Mikko Rantanen and through a few other star players, a team with all the lunch to rise to the next big dynasty in the NHL.
Sakic believes his team will fight for the championships in the years to come.
– We’re here to win the championships.
Nieminen, who has represented Colorado in the NHL for two seasons, has been impressed with the Colorado team and the game.
– There’s quite a bit of Star Wars going on here now. Colorado plays the most advanced hockey in the NHL, so the people are waiting for the prize. The drug is now quite similar to ours. The people have a hard faith behind them and they now want to stop waiting.
A five-year project
For fans, the boom is a treat, and they don’t take it for granted. As recently as five years ago, Colorado was the weakest team in the entire NHL. It only scored 48 points in the regular season at the time and was 21 points behind even the second worst team (Vancouver).
It won its previous championship in the summer of 2001.
– The chance to win means a lot to us, because we haven’t been this long in a long time. When we last won, I was a little kid, but I remember how big of a thing it was for this city then, Anna recalls.
According to fan buddies, hockey is now being discussed more among jobs and groups of friends than before.
– Avalanches is talked about everywhere, even in our own workplace. I have a coworker from St. Louis with whom the conversation was hard during the second round of the match series, Anna laughs.
The duo is also excited about the team’s Finns.
– Mikko Rantanen is my favorite player. Moose is Loose, Anna smiles and throws a slogan built around Rantanen.
– Artturi Lehkonen is my spring favorite, he also made it a big goal, rejoicing loudly next to the Turku striker conference final with reference to the extra time goal.
Signs of Pilgrimage
If fans are hard on the barrel, the same can be said for Ville Nieminen, who hasn’t been to Denver since 21 times since winning the championship. Nieminen met his old teammate Joe Sakic and has enjoyed a return to the crime scene anyway.
– Of course, old things come to mind here. Surely in that first match, there was a pretty tough emotion on the ground. When we got here, it was already quite exciting. After all, all the signs of a pilgrimage exist here, Nieminen smiled.
Will go to the Colorado championship train finish, will be determined in the next couple of weeks. If it goes, there will be a ruthless celebration.
– It would be great and it is certain that this city will be confused about it. We win this series 4-0 and return the pitcher home, the fans are finally convinced.
