Urheilu found out about the New Year’s resolutions of athletes from different sports.
The sports year 2024 once again offered Finns many successes and inspiring moments, but also bitter disappointments. The year has changed and it’s time for new stories.
Urheilu asked five Finnish athletes of different sports two questions about the year that started:
1. What is your New Year’s resolution for 2025?
2. What do you expect from your own sports year?
Linda Sällström, soccer
1. – Say yes if you are invited to participate in social activities, i.e. do more than just study and play sports.
2. – I hope that I stay healthy and perform on the field at such a level that I get to experience the third European Championships of my career.
Tuukka Taponen, formulas
1. – My New Year’s resolution is to do my best. There are many things that can be improved, but one thing that comes to mind is that I wouldn’t get frustrated too easily and would be able to listen to instructions better. The perfect end to the season would be if you could win the championship.
2. – I expect results in the Formula 3 series from the coming season. Results with which I can move forward in my career.
Joni Tuulola, ice hockey
1. – I try to live as good a year as possible both on and off the ice. A good year includes family and friends.
2. – Have a good and long spring and, of course, challenge yourself daily.
Veera Kauppi, floorball
1. – Usually I don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but I promise to take it a little bit slower in my everyday life as an overly efficient type of performer.
2. – Developing myself and staying healthy and intact. I want to win championships in the club team and the World Cup gold with Finland in December.
Elmo Lakka, athletics
1. – I promise to take less stress from sports. Work brings a nice relief to this.
2. – I’m waiting for an unprecedented Elmo!
