Finland’s women won European Championship bronze in American football.
The color of the Finnish women’s national football team’s EC series medal was confirmed on Saturday, when Great Britain beat Finland 21–14. In the end, Finland got the bronze and the silver went to Great Britain.
Already in April, Spain won the European championship unexpectedly, and the rest of the medals were decided by looking at the points difference. Since the three other countries in contention for medals had played perfectly together, Saturday’s Britain-Finland match still had a lot of meaning.
Finland beat Germany, Germany beat Britain and Britain beat Finland. If Britain had beaten Finland by less than 6 points, Finland’s medal would have been silver. Now Germany was fourth.
Finland scored points in the match played in Worcester on Saturday Laura Pulkkinen with two extra point kicks as well Milla Korhonen and Tiia Jansen with touchdowns.
