Silja Kosonen missed the Finnish record by 90 cents. He threw his record 73.50 in Tammela.
Finland’s moukari star Silja Kosonen20, threw the series of his life in the Tour de Hammer series in Tammela.
Kosonen’s best throw was 73.50 meters. It is his new record and the Finnish record for under-23s. Kosonen improved his previous record, born in the summer of 2021, by seven centimetres.
Kosonen has been hit hard since the beginning of the season. In mid-May, he threw 72.81. At that time, Kosonen crossed the 70 meter mark four times.
– I don’t know the exact statistics, but I would guess that it is the best series of my life, Kosonen beamed to at the time.
Now Kosonen crossed the 70 meter mark with all six of his throws, for the first time in his career.
Kosonen’s throw is the top score in Europe this season. In the world statistics, Kosonen is now ranked ninth. The USA is at the top Brooke Anderson with a result of 80.17.
Finland’s record is Krista Tervon 74.40 he threw last year.
Kosonen, representing the Turku Sports Association, threw his previous record of 73.43 in June 2021. It is a world record for young people under 20 years old.
In the same summer, Kosonen won European Championship gold and World Championship gold in the under-20 age group.
In the summer of 2022, Kosonen was seventh in the adult World Championships in Oregon with a result of 70.81 and then fifth in the European Championships in Munich with a result of 69.45.
Today in Tammela’s Tour de Hammer race Suvi Koskinen was second with a result of 70.02. Koskinen’s record was broken in March with 70.41.
Kiira Väänänen was third with a result of 63.27.
SE woman Krista Tervo, who threw 71.86 at her best this season, was not involved in Tammela’s competition.
