Finland’s Riksdag says yes to NATO

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Finland’s Riksdag says with a large majority yes to Finnish membership in NATO.

A simple majority was enough to approve the accession and now the Riksdag has thus given its yes to NATO membership.

In Tuesday’s closing debate, two MPs opposed the report, leading to today’s vote.

Now it remains for President Sauli Niinistö to ratify the laws. Only after Turkey and Hungary also ratify Finland’s membership can the country become a full member of the defense alliance.
