Switzerland won the orienteering women’s relay gold by 21 seconds over Norway. The bronze medals went to Sweden.
Finland’s trio Miia Niittynen, Maija Sianoja and Venla Harju finished fifth in the women’s relay in Hungary, which concluded the European Orienteering Championships.
Sianoja lifted Finland to third in the second leg, but in the final leg bronze fight, Harju succumbed to the Swedish star To Tove Alexandersson. In the final race, France also got ahead of Finland.
Switzerland won the relay gold with a difference of 21 seconds to Norway. Finland was barely two minutes behind the bronze medal, and the gold team was a good four and a half minutes behind Switzerland.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Finnish men finished fourth.
