Finlands alpine promise fell out Sports in a nutshell

Eduard Hallberg, 21, missed the second round for the first time this World Cup season.

Finnish alpine skier Eduard Hallberg had to stop Italy’s Alta Badia in the opening round of the slalom. The 21-year-old Finnish calculator pulled out at the very beginning of the race.

It is the first time this season that Hallberg misses the second round in the World Cup. He reached the second round in both Levi, Gurgli, Austria and Val d’Isère, France.

In Gurgli, he achieved his best finish of his career so far, being eighth.

Alta Badia slalom was predicted to suit Hallberg well. Sports expert Kalle Palander saw that the young Finn could reach the top ten.

Palander has won no less than three events in the giant slalom in Alta Badia.

Also another Finn, twice runner-up in the European Cup recently Jesper Pohjolainen fell out.

Norway has a double lead in the race. Timon Haugan is number one before Atle Lie McGrathia. French Clement Noël is third.
