Finland received a “dishonorable mention” from the international climate network | News in brief

The international network of climate organizations Climate Action Network (CAN) has given Finland a “dishonorable mention” in connection with the Baku climate conference, says the umbrella organization of Finnish non-governmental organizations Fingo.

In the justifications for the dishonorable mention, it is said that environmental and human rights organizations have sued Finland for violations of the Climate Act and that Finland’s carbon sinks have collapsed, which has nullified the benefits brought by Finland’s emission reductions. The collapse of carbon sinks also affects the realization of the EU’s emission reduction targets.

In addition to Fingo, CAN’s members in Finland include WWF Finland and the Finnish Nature Conservation Union.
