Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented the foreign minister at his press conference Elina Valtonen (comp.) interview for The Washington Post.
– Mrs. Valtonen is apparently not an experienced diplomat and said directly that the purpose of the sanctions is to hurt ordinary Russians, Lavrov said as shared by the Russian state news agency TASS in the video.
According to the Russian foreign minister, Valtonen’s statement that the Russians must pay the price for the war is rude.
According to him, Finland “trampled its reputation and its neutral position” and “Finland is moving to the forefront of the West’s campaign against Russia”.
Foreign Minister Valtonen said in the WP published yesterday in the interview, that the sanctions may seem unfair to ordinary Russians. However, according to the Finnish foreign minister, it is important to show Russia and the Russians that an unjust and illegal war has its price.
