Niko Anttola has skied his second championship at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Sotkamo. Yesterday Anttola was by far the number one in the boys’ free skiing 10 km and today the victory in the traditional skiing 7.5 km.

Anttola is the long-awaited ruler on the slopes of Vuokatti, as in February he won the World Championship silver medal for under-20s in the traditional 10 km of skiing in Norway. Anttola, who attends a ski high school in Vuokatti, will also make his debut at the World Cup in Salpausselä at the end of February.

On Tuesday, Anttola defeated the Czech Republic by 7.5 kilometers Jiri Tuzin 10.6 seconds. Swedish Elias Danielsson was third with a difference of 15.4 seconds to Anttola.

The Finns had an excellent day sledding for the boys in alpine skiing, because Erik Saravuo won gold and Jesperi Kemppainen bronze. The medal battle was fierce, as Saravuo defeated Norway in a two-time run Johs Bråthen Herlandin in two hundredths of a second. Kemppainen missed 11 hundredths of a win.

In slalom for girls Rosa Pohjolainen increased Finland’s gold catch to three when he won the race by an overwhelming 1.19 seconds Emilia Mondinelli. Of Austria Victoria Olivier was third.
