Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu according to the news agency Reuters, no official proposal has been made to separate the handling of Finland’s and Sweden’s NATO memberships.

– We have always demanded that both countries act to accept NATO membership, but we have more problems with Sweden than with Finland. Despite this, both NATO and both countries want to move forward in the membership process together, Çavuşoğlu said.

Çavuşoğlu spoke about it at a press conference today, Thursday.

Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah (you will switch to another service) clarifies that, according to Çavuşoğlu, Finland has not submitted to Turkey the processing of Finland’s and Sweden’s NATO memberships separately.

According to the Turkish foreign minister, the planned mutual meeting between Finland, Sweden and Turkey is now out of the question.

– In the current situation, a meeting would be meaningless. What is the need for such a meeting? We have made agreements that require certain measures from Finland and Sweden. We will follow how it progresses, Çavuşoğlu said.

The countries were supposed to meet for a tripartite meeting in February. Turkey announced its cancellation of the meeting last Tuesday.
