Finland can’t lock Agon Sadiku, Tomas Galvez and Robin Tihi in Huuhkaji now

Finland cant lock Agon Sadiku Tomas Galvez and Robin Tihi

Huuhkajie’s national match against Sweden live at Areena on Monday 9 January. from 8:40 p.m. Thursday 12.1. Finland meets Estonia, broadcast on Areena starts at 17:55.

The Finnish men’s national football team plays its first international matches of the year at the winter camp in Portugal. Tonight Huuhkajat will face Sweden at Estadio Algarve and on Thursday Estonia at Estadio da Nora.

The situation of the national team’s dual citizens has caused the most talk and wonder during the winter international matches. FC Honga’s 19-year-old striker promise Agon Sadiku and Manchester City’s 17-year-old winger Tomas Galvez will make their A national team debut in the match against Sweden. AIK’s 20-year-old topper Robin Tihi still waiting for his debut.

Finland’s number one stars are not participating in Portugal, as it is not an official international match window of the International Football Association Fifa. You can find the camp composition at the end of the story.

Born in Sweden, Tihi’s mother is Finnish, father Moroccan. Tihi told Urheilu in December that he had previously been attracted to the Moroccan youth national team. Tihi said that he has not yet made a decision about his A national team.

Galvez was born in London and also holds English citizenship. He has represented Finland in junior national teams from the U15 age group to the U19 age group.

The Portuguese camp does not “label” players

In the aforementioned matters, such as the players’ personal national team considerations, there is nothing surprising in itself.

On the other hand, among football followers, what has caused reflection is on what grounds and with what restrictions players can change the country they represent. The agreement was further thickened by Sadiku’s case.

Sadiku played two training matches in the Kosovo A national team in November. Sadiku’s parents are Kosovar Albanians.

Despite that, Sadiku is now representing Finland at the camp in Portugal. Huhkaji team leader Joonas Vilkki told Iltalehte (you will switch to another service)that Sadiku’s right to represent the national team was never changed to Kosovo, but according to Fifa’s system, he is still a Finnish player.

The head coach of Huahkaji Markku Kanerva stated the Football Association in the bulletin (you will switch to another service) About Sadiku’s situation, that “paperwork was not handled there the way it should have been handled”.

– Agon still has a chance to represent Finland, that is, he has not been branded as such. Now we have a chance to do it. We’ll take care of the paperwork, and it’s really two official international matches.

At the end of the year It was reported in Helsingin Sanomat (you will switch to another service)that according to Kanerva, Galvez also knows that his national team selection can be sealed at the January camp.

Contrary to what Kanervak has said, the national matches of the Portugal camp do not “stamp” or “seal” the selection of the youth A national team in any way or cause a waiting period for a possible transfer to another national team.

After the Portugal camp, they are as free to change their country of representation as they were before it, because in the eyes of Fifa, the matches of the Portugal camp are not part of an official competition that would bind the players’ right to representation. The matter was confirmed to Urheilu by Vilkki, the team leader of the A national team.

According to Fifa’s regulations, an official competition means a competition organized by Fifa or a continental confederation (e.g. Uefa), i.e. prestigious competitions, European Championship or World Cup qualifiers or the League of Nations.

However, the football association specified that even though the matches are not part of the official Fifa competition, they are nevertheless official A national matches. They affect the Fifa ranking and the statistics of the Swedish Football Association and Fifa. The debutants get their first official A national match.

The dual citizens now elected to Huuhkaji are Finnish in terms of representation, as they have represented Finland’s youth national teams. They can apply for the transfer of national team representation in the future, but it can only be done once.

Here’s more about the rule jungle

In the fall of 2020, the international football association Fifa made a major modernization for the first time in relation to the rules that define the eligibility of players.

Fifa has published the rule changes on its website instruction video (you will switch to another service)which is also Pallloiitto’s lawyer and director of competition operations Pekka Soini urged to watch when asked for his comments on the subject. You can find a video on Youtube from this link (you will go to another service).

The first general rule governing a player’s promotion right is that the player represents the national teams of the Fifa member country where he has permanent nationality.

Another general rule is that a player who has represented a member country’s team in any official football competition can no longer play for another member country’s team.

However, there are circumstances under which a player can change the football association he represents. The three most relevant options are presented in an instructional video as follows:

FIRST OPTION FOR UNION CHANGE

  • The player has played in any official national match in the member association he currently represents (except not in the A national team).
  • Playing his first official match for his current member country, he did not yet have the citizenship of the country he would like to move to represent.
  • When he played the last official match in his current union, he had not turned 21 years old.
  • ANOTHER OPTION TO CHANGE THE UNION

  • The player has played an A national match in any official competition in his current member country.
  • Playing his first official match for his current association, he held the citizenship of the member country he would like to move to represent.
  • When he played the last official match in his current union, he had not turned 21 years old.
  • The player has not played more than three A national matches in his current member association, regardless of whether the matches were official competitions or not.
  • At least three years have passed since the player last played an international A match, in an official or unofficial competition, in his current association.
  • The player has not participated in the final tournament of the A national teams in Fifa or the continental league in the current association.
  • THIRD OPTION TO CHANGE THE UNION

  • The player played the A national match in the official competition.
  • The player lost his citizenship against his will.
  • The player has the citizenship of the member country he would like to represent.
  • The cases of Sadiku, Galvez and Tihi are simple in themselves and do not fall directly into the categories listed above. They already had the citizenship of another country when they represented Finland for the first time in an official national match (not in the A national team). So they can change the country they represent, of course only once.

If they play a match that is part of an official competition according to Fifa regulations (which the Portuguese camp will not be), they can still change the country they represent. However, it must be done before turning 21, and then a three-year waiting period between national team appearances also comes into play, and no more than three national matches may be played. The Football Association confirmed this interpretation of the rules.

At least five debutants in the evening’s match in Finland

Swedish published (you are moving to another service) starting line-up for the Finland match already on Sunday.

Kanerva revealed Pallloiito on Monday morning in advance (you switch to another service) the fact that there are five A national team debutants in Finland’s starting line-up. They are Lucas Bergström, Santeri VäänänenAgon Sadiku, Kai Meriluoto and Tomas Galvez. Richard Jensen acts as Huuhkajie’s captain for the first time in the match. Six player substitutions can be made in the match.

The Huhkaji team at the Portuguese camp

This is the men’s national team’s first winter camp in three years. The camp includes nine players from the under-21 national team and the coaching staff of the U21 team.

    – The purpose of the winter camps is to make a concrete cooperation with Little Huhkajie, and now there is an opportunity for that. The head coach of the little brats Mika Lehkosuo and coach Gert Remmel come to camp. This is an opportunity for them to get to know their own players and get into our way of playing and our philosophy, Huuhkajie’s head coach Markku Kanerva told Palloliito in the bulletin (you will switch to another service).

The team includes 13 potential A national team debutants – among them FC Honga’s forward Agon Sadiku and Manchester City’s Fullback Tomas Galvez.
