The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announces on its website that the tournament will be played in Tampere and Riga. The message comes after a congress during this year’s World Cup tournament which is taking place in Finland.
In April, Russia’s St. Petersburg was stripped of the 2023 World Cup as a consequence of the war in Ukraine.
The IIHF Congress also took the decision that Switzerland may host the Men’s World Cup 2026, in the cities of Friborg and Zurich.
WC 2025 is decided in Sweden and Denmark.
