Financial worries – then more people want to sell their wedding dresses

Due to the tough economic situation, more and more people are choosing to sell their wedding dress at Blocket. There, the number of ads with used wedding dresses has doubled compared to the same period last year.
One of the dresses for sale at Blocket is Elin’s.

– It was a tough decision. I had wished that one of my daughters would possibly want it in the future, she says.

But that was not the case for Elin, who is actually called something else.

When the economy bottomed out, due to skyrocketing electricity bills and rising food prices, she thought long and hard about whether to sell her wedding dress, which she once wore on her wedding day 30 years ago.

But the options for bringing in money in any other way were few.

Figures from the Block show that there were more than 600 ads of second-hand wedding dresses between January 1 and April 27 this year – compared to around 300 last year.

“Tough times”

– The range has increased so much compared to last year. You can see a doubling. That’s an increase of 88 percent, says Ebba Rosencrantz, press officer at Blocket.

Since many people are barely able to afford it, they choose to sell their wedding dress, figures from Blocket show.

– When times are tough, we see that the used trade simply benefits. A wedding dress is worn only once. As long as it’s this tough, people will be inclined to both buy and sell extra used, says Rosencrantz
