Finally the Skeleton Crew makers give a positive update on

With the end of the first season of Skeleton Crew, the fears about the extension of the adventurous Star Wars series begin. Let’s become one 2nd season with Wim, Fern, Neel and KB? Or will Lucasfilm and Disney+ simply cancel the project just as quickly as The Acolyte after just eight episodes?

So far there is no official announcement as to whether the second season of Skeleton Crew is coming or not. In our analysis of the current status of the Star Wars series, we were based on the weak streaming numbers skeptical about continuing the Star Wars story. Now there is finally a hopeful update.

Skeleton Crew Season 2 would revolve around At Attin’s role in the Star Wars universe

Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, the creative minds behind Skeleton Crew, sat down for an interview with the industry publication Variety. In it they talk about the development of the project and give a brief look into the future. When asked if he optimistic is that there will be a second season, Watts says:

Yes that’s me. When you make something and put it out into the world, you never know what people will think of it. But Star Wars fans are very vocal, as everyone knows, and we’ve had very positive reactions from all quarters. We just want to make sure as many people as possible see the series. We still have a lot of stories to tell.

Of course, this isn’t a confirmation that the second season of Skeleton Crew is actually coming to Disney+, but in principle it sounds positive for the first time. Last but not least, Watts is very impressed by the possibilities of a streaming series:

I love television. I like this expanded format. The idea, to delve deeper into this episodic narrativeI find it really exciting. We talked about what a Season 2 might look like and how we might lean into it a little bit more. The first season was structured more like a miniseries. Now that we know the characters, we spend time with them and explore their world in a slightly different way of telling the story.

But what exactly would season 2 be about? Based on Watts’ statement, it looks like the Return of the central characters firmly planned. In addition to Wim and Co., this also includes the pirate Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law. The end of the first season basically leaves all the characters open as to what happens to them next.

Watts previously hinted in the interview that the reactions to the Existence of At Attin could be a potential plot point for Skeleton Crew Season 2. Until now, the planet was shielded from the rest of the galaxy. Now even strangers know about the gigantic gold treasure that lies dormant there.

When does Skeleton Crew Season 2 start on Disney+?

If the second season of Skeleton Crew is actually ordered, it seems that it will start streaming 2027 at the earliest realistic. There are currently no scripts or shooting schedules. Elaborate event series also tend to take two years or more. After all, Watts and Ford have a plan for how they will integrate the aging of the child stars into the series: the plot will simply jump back in time.
