San Marino defeated Liechtenstein 1–0 in the Nations D-League and thus won a competitive game in football for the first time in its history. San Marino’s historic hit struck Nicko Sensoli in the 53rd minute of the game.

Liechtenstein is ranked 199th in the world ranking of national teams, and San Marino, with a population of about 33,000, is next to last on the list, ranked 210th.

Liechtenstein is now winless in 41 matches, and San Marino previously had exactly one win in their national team history. It just came from Liechtenstein, but in a friendly match in the spring of 2004. After that, San Marino had gone 140 matches without a win.
