Finally, Final Fantasy XIV gets a new class that lets me let out the animal whisperer in me

The adventures of Final Fantasy XIV begin a new chapter. With Dawntrail there will be some new features, including two new classes that are called jobs in the game. MeinMMO author Jasmin Beverungen wants two specific jobs.

After the saga surrounding Hydaelyn and Zodiark ended with Endwalker, I’m now looking forward to the new Dawntrail expansion. It promises a nice graphics update, new areas and two new jobs.

Not much is known about the new jobs yet. One of the jobs is supposed to be a melee fighter, the other a wizard.

Many fans suspect that FF14 producer Naoki Yoshida gave a hint about the new classes with his T-shirt. He has already hinted at new content and jobs with his shirts in the past, which is why the big guesswork began on social media.

Personally, I would be particularly happy about a new job and would probably even give up my main job for it.

Why I want to tame animals so much

My absolute favorite job that I’ve missed since starting Final Fantasy XIV is Beast Tamer.

This class appears in Final Fantasy XI and many other spin-offs in the series. With the class it is possible to bind several enemy monsters to you for a certain period of time and have them fight for you.

This is actually what I was hoping for from my summoner. In the early days I chose Summoner as my main job because I thought I could actually summon monsters onto the field with it.

The summoner does have a carbuncle and since his latest change he can summon Garuda, Ifrit and Titan. But the latter are not as present as companions who would constantly support me in battle.

They are only called for a certain period of time and then disappear again. I can’t form such an emotional connection to the incantations. I imagine things to be different with monsters that are permanently on the battlefield.

I like it when I’m not alone in the field and have animals at my side who fight for me. Accordingly, the perfect job for me would be a beast or animal tamer who binds monsters to himself. This way I could travel through the world of FF14 with my zoo of animals without ever being completely alone.

This is what the animal tamer should look like in FF14

The animal tamer could even develop a little further compared to his appearance in Final Fantasy XI: It would be great if the animals were permanently bound and I could, for example, give them names or give them skins, similar to the case with the Chocobo.

We can color the bird by mixing different ingredients and summon it in battle, why shouldn’t this also work with our own beasts?

The island paradise provided another glimmer of hope. Aside from Final Fantasy XIV, I love playing farming simulations. Accordingly, I was very happy about the island paradise, where I can run something like a farm and keep animals, separate from the main game. But as soon as I leave the island paradise, I leave my animals behind on the island.

I would develop a much more emotional bond with my monsters if I could take them outside of the island and summon them in battle.

However, the animals shouldn’t be able to do all the work for me in the fight. A battle system like Pokémon, where I only give orders to my monsters, would be too monotonous for me in the long run. I would also like to use some punches, kicks or spells myself to defeat opponents. My monsters are only supposed to support me.

These are the clues about the new job

By the way, the beast tamer could be related to Naoki Yoshida’s T-shirt. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were drawn by Kevin B. Eastman, among others. If you take away the first name, all that’s left is “Beastman.”

In case you think that’s too far-fetched, Yoshida announced the samurai class in the past with a Spider-Man shirt. The director of the Spider-Man films is Samuel Raimi. Samuel Raimi… Sam Raimi… Samurai… Do you understand?

There are other jobs that are very popular in the community. For example, the green color of the turtles could indicate a green magician. There is also a video game about the ninja turtles called “Turtles in Time” – some suspect the time magician is behind it.

Artist as a new job would also be conceivable, as the turtles were named after famous artists. On top of that, the corsair or pirate is very popular. But which jobs will ultimately win remains to be seen.
