The community in Final Fantasy XIV has many special ideas and presents itself with additional challenges. Now a group of players has played the current alliance raid – but for fun only with male Miqo’te in swimming trunks.
Which player organized the run? The swimwear run was organized by player Phron’to on the Tonberry server. Tonberry is on the Japanese data center Elemental. There he organized his third alliance raid run with exclusively male Miqo’te characters.
In a post on X.com (formerly Twitter) he shares excerpts from their shared adventures. The kittens pose and show off their outfits:
In an interview with Gamesradar.com, he talked about his motivation for this: In the Japanese data centers, I observed entire communities organizing event runs. The topics range from pure meme runs to extensive events in special uniforms. […] I thought to myself: What if I organized something like this on my Elemental data center?
Phron’to is himself a male Miqo’te player and, according to his character card on X.com, has pushed all combat jobs, crafters and collectors to the current maximum level of 90.
Which alliance raids did the round tackle? The Speedo Run comprised the third and final part of the current “Level 90” alliance raid: Myths of Eorzea (Part 3) Thaleia. The opponents here are the gods from the official in-game pantheon, the Twelve. In the story, these challenge the player character, also called the Warrior of Light, to a test of strength.
Myths of Eorzea (Part 1) In the realm of the gods: Aglaia appeared with patch 6.1 shortly after the release of the current Endwalker expansion. The troupe around Phron’to played this under the theme of angelic or divine outfits.
They all did the second part, Myths of Eorzeas (Part 2) Euphrosyne, dressed in Sailor shirts.
Of course, only male Miqotes were allowed in the first two runs.
What are Miqo’te? Miqo’te are one of the basic races from Final Fantasy XIV. They are people with cat ears and tails. The female version is still one of the most played races in the MMORPG, while the male version appears far less.
Simply because there are far fewer Miqo’te men in the game than women, the joint run of the three 24-man raids is an achievement.
Have you ever taken part in a themed raid run? If so, which one was it for you? And if not, what kind of topic would you like to get involved in? We would be happy to receive your comments!
By the way, the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival recently took place in London. We were there and spoke to Naoki Yoshida:
