Square Enix and Final Fantasy XIV director Yoshida is researching a story-driven animation.
The director of Final Fantasy 14 recently shared the idea to create an anime or television series based on the popular MMORPG. The longevity of the MMO doesn’t come as a surprise that its community is interested in the idea of expanding Final Fantasy 14 even further by crossing the boundaries of games.
Director presents new ideas for Final Fantasy XIV animation
One of Final Fantasy 14’s biggest physical events has just been completed, and the audience has had to digest a lot of new information about the game. It has the upcoming Dawntrail expansion and many exciting features that players can look forward to.
The developers maximized fan excitement and used the 2023 Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival as a platform to answer questions about Dawntrail, announce upcoming content in the current expansion, and talk about the overall future of Final Fantasy 14.
As reported by Japanese game publisher Famitsu, Final Fantasy 14’s director, Naoki Yoshida, talked about the possibility of creating an animated or television series based on the MMORPG in an interview together. Yoshida explained that he was open to the idea and would probably like to get into such a business. However, since Yoshida has a large number of roles within Square Enix, he thinks it is not possible to take on this role at this time.
The project is currently in the research phase
Yoshida doesn’t seem to have left the idea of Final Fantasy 14 animation or series completely behind closed doors. He also shares that he has not yet rejected requests for such a project.
He even states that he has investigations into such a project. However, it does not seem to have any plans to implement such a project at the moment. But of course, if that happens, we can predict that Square Enix will deliver a product of solid quality.
Players will remember the Korean-made Final Fantasy 14 animated commercial that aired earlier. This is an indication of what kind of quality the game team will likely deliver when they decide to make an anime or television series.
