File Explorer Start menu… Microsoft is full of new features

Windows 11 is about to be full of new functions, some of which are long overdue. As part of an event rather dedicated to its “pro” customers, Microsoft unveiled some developments for its OS, which should a priori be available for all versions of Windows 11 shortly. Here is a summary of the main announcements.

the Start menu will evolve a little. Microsoft first promises a section ” Our recommendations ” better damn thanks to contextual suggestions, which will notably integrate the files recently modified in the cloud. Especially, in its section “ Pin » the Start menu will benefit from application folders, which will finally allow you to group all your programs of the same type in the same place. It was time !

Another notable novelty – and eagerly awaited by many users – which this time concerns theFile Explorer. No more multiple windows in which you get lost at the slightest copy and paste: the Windows 11 file manager will finally havetabbed browsing !

It will also benefit from other refinements: with a right click, it will soon be possible to add a “favorite” label to your most useful files. You will find them as soon as you open File Explorer, in a new section ” Favorites “. Logic.

Instant captions, Focus and new options for video

Windows 11 is inspired by Android’s “instant subtitles” function and will offer to activate real-time captioning of all audio and video content containing voice, whatever app you use. A very practical function for the hearing impaired, in particular, but which can also be useful in other contexts.

“The Concentration Assistant”, a little hidden in the settings until now, will be further highlighted. You can thus set a timer during which Windows will hide all of your notifications. One do not disturb mode will also appear.

Finally, Windows 11 will considerably beef up its game to improve your long videoconference sessions, thanks to AI… if your machine supports them.
Thus, the system will natively manage background noise suppression, background blur, and automatic cropping (a bit like Apple’s Center Stage). More surprisingly, Windows 11 will also be able to use artificial intelligence to automatically maintain visual contact with your interlocutors!
