No survivors have been found after the crash between a domestic flight and a military helicopter on the outskirts of Washington DC, USA.
Among the passengers on the plane are figure skaters and their coaches as well as family members, writes the American Figure Skating Association in a statement according to the Kansas City Star magazine.
“We are devastated by this tragedy and keep the victim’s families close to our hearts,” the union writes.
According to the statement, the athletes were on their way home from a camp held in connection with the US championships in Wichita, Kansas.
Russian news agency Tass writes that even former figure skating stars Yevgenija Sjisjkova and Vadim Naumov on the plane. Together, the married couple, who are now coach for the Russian national team, won the World Cup gold in Japan in 1994.
