In a recent interview, the director spoke about the fact that he also wanted to switch to the superhero genre. His idea for one A different kind of Spider-Man film but was rejected.
Fight Club genius David Fincher doesn’t like the usual Spider-Man story
In an interview with the British Guardian, Fincher revealed that he pitched a Spider-Man film a long time ago that was about a older, adult Peter Parker should rotate. But the studio wasn’t interested in that and wanted to tell the classic origin story of the Marvel hero, in which Peter Parker, as a high school teenager, is bitten by a radioactive spider and develops superpowers:
They said, ‘Why would you want to erase the origin story?’ And I asked: ‘Because it’s stupid?’ This origin story means a lot to a lot of people, but I looked at it and thought to myself, “A red and blue spider?” There are many things I can do in my life, but this just isn’t one of them.
The director didn’t give any more details about the story idea for his superhero film about the friendly neighborhood spider. The first Spider-Man film was released in 2002 with Sam Raimi’s Tobey Maguire, in which the well-known origin story of the Marvel character was described.
David Fincher’s new thriller is coming to Netflix soon
Fincher fans who don’t feel like going to the cinema at the moment won’t have to wait long for his new film. The thriller The Killer appears on November 10th with a Netflix subscription as a stream.
The plot is about a professional killer played by Michael Fassbender, who carries out his orders with perfect precision. When one of his missions in Paris ends fatally and his private life is threatened, he goes on the run and at the same time seeks revenge against his superiors.
