A fifth person has been arrested for involvement in the high-profile murder of Mikael in Skärholmen.
At the same time, prosecutor Ove Jäverfelt tells TV4 Nyheterna that the investigation is progressing and he has good hopes of solving the murder.
– We will solve the murder. It is only a matter of time, he says.
A fifth person has been arrested after the murder of 39-year-old Mikael, who was shot dead in front of his 12-year-old son in Skärholmen on April 10.
Mikael was out cycling with his son when a gang of youth made a nasty comment and behaved badly. When he went forward and confronted the gang, he was shot.
His son made the 911 call, but his life could not be saved.
17-year-old arrested
The suspect, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested on Wednesday and is now under arrest on suspicion of aiding and abetting the gross protection of a criminal, prosecutor Ove Jäverfelt told TV4 Nyheterna.
The boy is interviewed by the police on Thursday afternoon, and Jäverfelt will then decide whether he should be remanded in custody.
– The investigation is progressing and I am satisfied that we have been able to arrest one more person. It is another step on the way to arresting the person or persons who shot Mikael, says Järvefelt.
From before, four men are suspected of involvement in the murder in various ways. Two teenagers with gang connections are in custody on suspicion of gross protection by a criminal. A 40-year-old is also suspected of the same crime but has been released, but the suspicions remain.
A fourth person is in custody, suspected of serious weapons offences. Those believed to have fired the shots have still not been arrested and are suspected to be in hiding.
“Will solve the murder”
Now the prosecutor tells TV4 Nyheterna that they are well on their way to solving the murder. Arresting the 17-year-old further is a step there.
– We will solve the murder. It is only a matter of time, he says.
