The iPhone, already fifteen years old!
It was January 9, 2007. In what will undoubtedly remain one of the best keynote in history, Steve Jobs unveils the iPhone, a phone that would become the very first modern smartphone, inspire the entire industry… and change our lives. The legacy of this historic presentation in the history of technologies is very much alive. In fifteen years, the iPhone and its successors have revolutionized the interface of mobile terminals, initiated the revolution of apps, of the mobile Web. In short, an unmissable date.
Folding smartphones: Samsung is less alone
Will 2022 be the year of folding smartphones? In quick succession, two Chinese manufacturers, Honor and Oppo, came to walk on Samsung’s toes. With, on the one hand, the Magic V, a terminal that is very much inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and, on the other, the Find N, a much more compact model, which we were able to take in hand. These smartphones are primarily intended for the Chinese market, but prove that interest in folding terminals is growing.
Wordle, the game phenomenon
Who would have thought that a variant of the hangman game is a hit at the start of 2022? It is however exactly what happens to wordle, a simple word game that has exploded in popularity in recent days.
The objective is simple: you have six tries to guess a five-letter word. At each trial, the letters that you placed correctly are indicated. Why such a success ? No doubt because the word to find is the same for everyone, and it is then easy to share the result on social networks… without spoilers.
Google attacks Apple and iMessage
Hiroshi Lockheimer, the big boss of Android at Google, is enraged by the success of iMessage. Apple messaging, very popular in the United States, is indeed a proprietary technology, reserved for users of iPhone, iPad and Mac. On Android, Google is promoting RCS, a standard developed to succeed the aging SMS. We’ll explaine everything here.
Louis Vuitton launches a connected watch (and its own OS)
It is called Tambour Horizon Light Up and costs no less than 2,800 euros. Inevitably, the new connected watch from Louis Vuitton is expensive and flashy, even if it embeds far fewer sensors than an Apple Watch.
But above all, it incorporates an OS designed in-house and more WearOS, like the brand’s previous model. We are not sure to test it one day, but we would like to see what it gives!
Avira’s really bad idea
One of the most famous antivirus software integrates a function… worthy of a virus. Since a few days, US users of the software can activate an Ethereum miner. It starts when the PC is idle and uses all the power of the machine to try to win you some virtual coins.
There is little chance of becoming rich with this very energy-intensive function, which is therefore harmful to the environment. On the other hand, NortonLifeLock, the publisher of Avira, could well benefit from it, since it pockets a 15% commission on all winnings…
