Jealousy must have been the driving force when a 51-year-old man subjected two people to attempted murder. Now the Kalmar district court sentences him to 15 years in prison, local media reports.

The court writes that the man wanted to kill his bonus daughter as revenge against his former partner, who met a new man, writes the Barometer.

The attack was first aimed at the man’s bonus daughter, but when her boyfriend tried to intervene, he was stabbed in the chest and suffered life-threatening injuries. The woman survived without physical injuries, but she too is considered to have been the victim of attempted murder.

Parts of the sequence of events in a home in Kalmar in May were recorded on a mobile phone by a witness. When the man attacked, he had several knives, pepper spray, cable ties, an axe, a baton and silver tape with him.

The man must pay SEK 240,000 in damages to the bonus daughter and SEK 296,000 to the boyfriend, reports SVT Nyheter Småland.
