In FIFA 23, the “World Cup Icons”, i.e. legendary World Cup players, sometimes look completely wrong. The problem has been dragging on for weeks now – but a solution is currently not in sight.
What is the problem? FIFA 23 released the “World Cup Icons” on November 25th, 2022, improved versions of certain icons and some of the best cards in the game.
However, some of these legends came into play incorrectly: Didier Drogba’s World Cup Icon version in particular caused a laugh at first, as Drogba simply appeared with the body and face of Italian Paolo Maldini.
Some of the other cards, like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Zidane or Cruyff, come with generic faces that have nothing to do with their real counterparts.
Over the weeks, some players were dissatisfied with the situation. The problem has existed for more than a month now. There was also criticism that there was a lack of communication on the problem.
Now there was an update on the problem in the official EA forum.
Problem with icons in FIFA 23 probably bigger than expected
This is what EA says: On December 30th, community manager “EA_rephii” reported the problems in “Answers HQ”, the EA forum (via answers.ea.com).
The post explains that the issue is currently under investigation: “It appears to be a more complicated issue that cannot be resolved at this time,” the statement said: “Usually these aren’t overly complicated things, but it seems that this time it is a bigger problem than initially thought.”
The team is currently investigating the problem, but there is currently no date for a possible fix.
According to the current status, it is still open when the icons will be revised and displayed correctly in the game.

Basically, the icons are strong, but also very expensive cards. Are you looking for cheap alternatives for your team? Here you can find some players under 50,000 coins that can improve your team.
