China allows foreign travel again – while the spread of infection is rampant. Concerns about more dangerous variants of covid-19 are causing several countries to introduce rules for travelers from China.
On Monday, for example, 97 out of 212 travelers on a flight from China to Milan tested positive for covid-19.
But in Sweden, it is not currently relevant to introduce any measures for entry from China, such as testing, says Sara Byfors, head of unit at the Public Health Agency.
– It is based on the fact that we have a high spread of infection also in Sweden and in Europe, not just in China. Although it seems to be very extensive in China, we do not see that it is necessary to take measures right now, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.
In the EU country Italy, travelers from China must take a mandatory covid test, even those who only stopover in the country, while the United States requires that all travelers over the age of two flying to the United States from China must present a negative test before being allowed to board.
