At eight o’clock on Friday morning, train traffic between Stockholm and Gothenburg was stopped urgently due to an accident. For about an hour, the trains stood still on the route, and then caused consequential delays.

What was behind the extensive stop turned out to be a crow after a check.

    – The train driver who drove the affected train felt that he ran into something. Then we always have to make a stop, says Felicia Danielsson, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration.

As it was unknown what had been driven over, traffic had to be shut down on the railway, in order to rule out that it was a human.

    – When we found out that it was a crow, of course we were happy. It is positive that no one was injured.

The Swedish Transport Administration does not keep statistics on how common it is for crows to cause train stoppages of this magnitude, but according to Felicia Danielsson, it sometimes happens that birds collide with trains.

Train traffic resumed as usual at nine o’clock in the morning.
