Few people know this great Windows function to copy and paste them

This little known Windows feature is great for copying and pasting

Like everyone, you regularly use copy and paste to duplicate content to your PC. But you probably know that Windows has a memory to keep and reuse everything you copy …

If you are using a computer a little bit in your life or in your work, you necessarily know how to copy and paste it, this ultra practical method which allows you to save a visible element on the screen, such as a text, a file or an image, and to instantly copy it to another place. Associated with the famous keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + C And Ctrl + V On PC, this elementary function quickly becomes an essential tool in many daily tasks, whether to write a text, carry out a search on the Internet, recover an image or fill in a form.

Unfortunately, it frequently happens that we have to juggle multiple successive copy and paste and we often find ourselves inadvertently erased a capital information that had previously been recorded. Indeed, the data recorded via the copy and paste is saved in a space called clipboard which, for a long time, could contain only one information at a time. Thus, copying information in the clipboard erased the previous one and forced to think carefully about the order in which to carry out their copy and paste.

However, this problem is ancient history because for several years already, Windows has a special function allowing to keep data glued in the clipboard: baptized historic, it allows to successively record several information in order to recall it and stick it when the time comes, when you need again.

To reveal this magic tool, simply use the shortcut-class Windows + V (Press the Windows logo key simultaneously and the keyboard letter). In the window that appears, you will then find all the textual data that you have previously copied. If the cursor of your mouse is positioned in a document or a field that can receive text, you can then insert any data from the history by simply clicking on the list. It is also possible to pin the data that you use most often at the top of lister, in order to find it and stick it more quickly. And of course, you can erase the history of your clipboard via the button Eraseso as not to allow confidential information to drag once you no longer need it!

The history of the clipboard is normally activated by default on your computer, but if nothing happens when you use the shortcut-class Windows + Vthat means that it may be necessary to activate it manually in the settings of your computer. Whether on Windows 10 or Windows 11, go to the menu Settings> System> papergrounds and click the button to the right of the option History of the clipboard. The function will then be well activated and you can enjoy this tool which will greatly make your life make your lives in many daily tasks.

Surprisingly, Mac users do not have a native guidance history, macOS allowing you to consult only the last information copied, and must therefore turn to third-party applications to obtain this function. In the Linux world, on the other hand, most popular distributions integrate a basic copy-paste tool, which is often more complete and ergonomic than that of Windows.
