The history of the Fête de l’Huma

The Fête de l’Humanité, aka Fête de l’Humanité, is organized by the newspaper L’Humanité. The first edition of the Fête de l’Huma was born in Bezons, in the Val-d’Oise department in the Île-de-FranceSeptember 7, 1930. It was initiated by the Director of the newspaper L’Humanité at the time: Marcel Cachin, as a manifestation of “proletarian solidarity”.

The first concerts did not begin until 1936 during the Popular Front, and brought back many festival-goers: the bar of 300,000 participants was then crossed. When it was resumed at La Liberation in 1945, it brought together a million people. Since 2012, great artists have come and gone, from Pete Doherty and Shaka Ponk in 2012 to Joe Starr and The Chemical Brothers in 2016, via Manu Chao in 2015, Massive Attack in 2014, -M- and Zebda in 2013. .
