Mick Schumacher’s violent crash startled the F1 world. Valtteri Bottas, who finished ninth, has scored a big pile of points.
Charles Leclerc. Max Verstappen. Leclerc. Verstappen. Verstappen. Verstappen.
Only two winners had been seen in the first six races of the F1 series season. That’s why Red Bull Sergio Perezin winning the Monaco GP was a nice boost for the series. In his second season at Red Bull, the Mexican slacker, who has shown great excerpts, has sneaked in just 15 points from Verstappen, who are leading the World Series.
Perez won before finishing second Carlos Sainzia and the third, Verstappen. Left the pile Charles Leclerc was bitterly fourth.
Sunday’s race was largely settled at the depot stops. The start of the race was delayed by as much as an hour due to heavy rain and wet track. Perez, who was third at the beginning of the race, was the first of the top drivers to change tires.
When Lerclerc came back to the track from his own stop, the Mexican had already hit the landscape. However, the track began to dry out so quickly that many drivers came to change the tires on the dry road. Leclerc, who had previously received intermediate tires, was soon taken back to the depot and given hard dry tires.
The Monaco, who clearly controlled the start of the race from the top spot, sprinkled Ferrari’s strange tactics on the radio. Monaco on site over the weekend Jukka Mildh considers the reasons for the tactical solution.
– This year, the Monaco GP settled for depot visits and Ferrari’s failed tire selection in difficult conditions. The team gave Perez the victory. Ferrari would have had a ride to control the race the way they wanted. They had some sort of communication problem.
Ferrari’s second driver Carlos Sainz wanted him to get the dry weather tires on his first depot stop. Mildh felt the teams in both drivers did not communicate with each other.
– At least it seemed outward. A more sensible solution was made to Sainz at an early stage. A completely different solution was made for Leclerc. Something went wrong, Mildh wondered.
Schumacher’s severe collision frightened him
The red flags were introduced twice during the race. The first red flags came at the beginning of the race. Others came after running 30 laps of the race. The reason was the Haas driver Mick Schumacherin a violent hit on a wall where the car went sadly in half.
Fortunately, Schumacher himself survived the situation with good skin. However, it took so long to collect the parts of the broken car and repair the wall that the race was interrupted again.
– Schumacher’s crash was pretty surprising. It seemed that the left rear wheel of the car stopped and caused a rapid braking that led to spinning. The hit on the tire wall was hard, which caused the car to break.
– There is usually no severe damage on the Monaco line. Fortunately, the man is fine. Surely many were frightened for a little while, Mildh said.
Why not drive in heavy rain?
At the start of the race, viewers were annoyed at why they didn’t dare let the cars into action. In recent years, a lot of races have been seen where drivers are not allowed on a very wet track.
In Belgium, for example, last year the race became a flop, with drivers driving a few laps. They too were driven behind a security car.
– It would have been great to test on a slow track how cars work properly in wet weather. On the Monaco-style track, however, safety issues are rapidly emerging. It is too wet and water is coming. The probability of accidents increases significantly.
The threat of rain was known all week. Mildh thinks it’s weird why he wasn’t properly prepared for this.
– Even the audience knew they were going to the harbor. Yet from the beginning it became quite a circus. The rain was harder than expected, but it was still wonderful that not all the stables were prepared for it.
Bottas has a great points pot
Alfa Romeon To Valtteri Bottas Sunday’s race was a battle victory. The starting points for the race were not good, as the Finn did not start the race until box 12.
However, Bottas was able to snatch a few spots. Ninth place brought the 32-year-old driver two points and the total pot for the season is now 40 points. It’s a hard screen from Bottas. With his Chinese teammate Guanyu Zhoulla there is only one skinny point after seven races.
– Bottas did what he could in those circumstances. Keli made it possible for him to get up even more, but in Monaco, it’s hard to get up from the queue. In terms of that, getting points was very valuable in this situation.
The F1 season will continue in a couple of weeks on the Baku street track.
