Three people were shot dead when a 16-year-old boy broke into two villas in mid-October last year. In Västberga, the 40-year-old father of small children, Ferhat, was shot to death. His wife suffered life-threatening injuries after she was shot while holding one of their two children. – She has described him as an incredibly kind person. He was a person who never complained. He had an incredible warmth, a joy and was very present with his children, says Rebecka Lewis and adds: – He was liked by everyone, a very kind and warm person. It’s so unfair that it was him. Couldn’t have made it without the family’s support The incident has been a nightmare for the family and the mother and the two children are still devastated by what has happened. – Their security has been fundamentally shaken, they are different people now. The little girl has suffered from PTSD and for a long time woke up at the same time of the night as it happened, says Rebecka Lewis and adds: – She has been alone in this and did not get the support she needed from society. The family’s home has, among other things, been cordoned off for months, while the mother herself had to seek trauma treatment for the children and herself. – If she hadn’t been a doctor, she wouldn’t have been able to navigate all of this. It is pure luck that she had these skills and a large, warm family that was able to comfort and support. She has said she doesn’t know if she would have survived this without their support, says Rebecka Lewis. Shared surname with designated criminal The motive for the murder of Ferhat and the attempted murder of his family is believed to be that they happen to have the same surname as a criminal. The family has no connection to gang crime. – It is quite obvious that it is so. There is a criminal designated person with this name. If you look at the execution and the background, it is obvious that it is so, says Rebecka Lewis. “It’s been a tough day” Today, a 17-year-old boy was sentenced for the murders and several other people for involvement. – It has been a difficult day, there is nothing that can give her family compensation or in any way alleviate what they have been through, says Rebecka Lewis. The mother does not think that the punishment corresponds to the deeds and she wonders if Sweden is lagging behind in legislation. – She also feels a sense of resignation for society. That these people have been able to be raised to become cold-blooded killers in Sweden, they are just children, says Rebecka Lewis.
