Bol has already won the necessary medals in the 400 meters hurdles. She won European gold, World Cup silver and Olympic bronze in the track. She also sharpened her European record to 51.45 seconds. But the coveted global gold was still missing.
Bol is now the fourth Dutchman with athletics gold. The 23-year-old is now in a row with pole vaulter Rens Blom, Utrecht sprinter Dafne Schippers and runner Sifan Hassan.
