Felix Tshisekedi will participate in the tripartite summit on December

Intended to intensify stabilization efforts in eastern DRC, the summit scheduled for December 15 in Luanda is supposed to bring together the Rwandan and Congolese presidents under the aegis of the Angolan mediator, President João Lourenço. Ten days before the meeting, Félix Tshisekedi has just confirmed his presence.

Barely had the tripartite summit of December 15 been announced by Angolan mediation than everything seemed to indicate that the president of the DRC would go there in person. Since this Friday, December 6, the information is now official: its spokesperson, Tina Salama, actually confirmed on RFI’s microphone that Felix Tshisekedi would go well in Angola in ten days to participate in the meeting. It must be said that, according to his entourage, the Congolese head of state firmly believes in the Luanda process and has deep respect for João Lourençothe Angolan president who plays the role of mediator in the crisis shaking eastern DRC.

It remains that if the Angolan president once again manages to bring together Paul Kagame and Félix Tshisekedi around the same table as he managed to do almost ten months ago, exchanges promise to be difficult between the two leaders. While the M23 continues its progress on the ground, Kigali affirms on the one hand that the question of the armed group remains a Congolese-Congolese question and that it is one of the only ones to remain unresolved at this stage in this file. On the other hand, Kinshasa still categorically refuses to consider any direct discussion with the M23. “ We will not sign anything with the M23, but with the Rwandan government », Says an advisor to Félix Tshisekedi.
