Färjestad was criticized for drinking beer on the big stage in Karlstad.
Now team captain Linus Johansson strikes back.
– I feel absolutely no shame, he says.
Färjestad had not won Swedish Championship gold in eleven years, so when they won in the seventh and decisive final against Luleå in May, it was natural that the celebration went wild. The Färjestad players had some really messy days and nights at various nightclubs, and the celebration on the big stage in Karlstad was powerful.
Strikes back against criticism
But the aftermath was bitter. The players could be seen dropping the replica of the trophy that had been awarded, which caused the league to collapse. In addition, Färjestad received criticism for how they behaved on stage, and the club even went out and apologized for drinking beer.
The club admitted that they had not thought about it, which caused a great stir.
In the podcast Släpp Sargen, team captain Linus Johansson now talks about his view of the whole thing:
– I feel absolutely no shame about it. My God, you have to celebrate when you have done something good, right? It’s not like it was something over the border, but we had a beer with us out on stage. It is clear that it is good, if there was someone who took it badly, that you apologize, but at the same time you have to live when you have done something so good, says Johansson.
“Such fucking bullshit”
The host Niclas Norlindh then calls the criticism “such fucking bullshit”, but also adds that he understands that the FBK captain can not express himself in this way around the issue.
– Yes, haha, it’s good that some people think so, I think, the gold hero answers.
Linus Johansson also says in the podcast that he does not care much about the criticism that has come against the club and how they behaved with the trophy. Johansson has mainly meant that it is a replica that is awarded for that very reason, and that the association can count on the team that wins gold celebrating.
